Pain In The Throat

The cause of this pain is most commonly infection, but can also be mechanical or chemical damage of the mucosa, reflex pain like in the Eagle syndrome, tumour, immunological diseases and others.

A frequent cause of pain in the throat is laryngo-pharyngeal reflux.

In patients with laryngo-pharyngeal reflux, symptoms like burning, dryness, difficult swallowing a.o. often occur.

Because these patients often have redness of the throat, in many cases they are wrongly treated with antibiotics, without significant success.
Pain in the throat requires a complete ENT examination and appropriate treatment depending on the cause.
